I'm just getting home from WriterCon 2022 - four days of writing, networking, and learning. My cup runneth over. I haven't been this tired in a while, but it's a good tired. I promise.
If you are a writer (or want to be) and you didn't make it to WriterCon this year, I'm laying down the gauntlet right now. If you never attend another writer's conference in your life, you need to attend THIS conference! It's one of the best in the country - if not the world.
This year, our keynote speakers were bestselling authors Steven James & Robert Dugoni and I was lucky enough to get to do book signings with each of them, as well as bestselling breakout thriller writer Yasmin Angoe and one of the most prolific screenplay writers today, Bob Saenz, whom I met last year. It was ah-mazing!
Three years ago, at WriterCon 2019, I set a goal to do something worthy of being asked to be a speaker at WriterCon in 2020. Little did I know that not only would my dreams come true, but I also wasn't dreaming big enough. To share a table and sit shoulder to shoulder with four major writers wasn't even on my radar. I just wanted to see my name on a book cover, maybe see it on a bookshelf, maybe it was enough to just have my book in the Library of Congress.
Today, my advice to new writers is different than it was three years ago. Now my advice is DREAM BIGGER! If you work hard and don't quit, you can accomplish more than you ever dreamed.
