About Me
Hi, I’m Betsey Kulakowski—author, speaker, paranormal investigator, and lifelong storyteller.

With over 30 years of experience as a federally trained safety professional and emergency manager, I've been on the front lines of some of the most significant disasters in recent history, including the Murrah Federal Building Bombing, the World Trade Center, and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. I hold a degree in emergency management and have spent my career helping others prepare for the worst, while writing stories that imagine even stranger possibilities.

I’m the author of the bestselling Veritas Codex paranormal thriller series and the new Manifest Destiny series. Many of my books have earned BookFest Awards for Supernatural Suspense Thrillers, and The King’s Ransom was named Best Published Fiction Novel at WriterCon 2024. Recently, the horror-omedy, Karens In the Woods, co-authored with the amazing JB Caine, won first place in the National Excellence in Storytelling for horror.

I love connecting with readers and fellow writers through speaking engagements, book clubs, and the occasional ghost hunt. I can be found at writing and paranormal conferences and am happy to connect with event organizers looking for dynamic and adaptable speakers.

I’m a history nerd, amateur paranormal investigator, and devoted family genealogist. Now retired from full-time safety work, I’ve traded hard hats for haunted tales and spend my days writing, podcasting, and exploring my new home in Arkansas with my husband. We have two amazing grown kids who still keep life exciting.

Where will adventure take me? Come along for the journey and let’s go find the truth—one mystery at a time.
