About The Author
Betsey is a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist with a degree in Emergency Management. She spent over 27 years at the Oklahoma Department of Labor, conducting over 1,000 on-site safety consultations for private sector employers. She later became the Assistant Director of the Public Employee's Occupational Safety & Health (PEOSH) unit, overseeing enforcement inspections, including fatality investigations.
Betsey also served at disaster sites to ensure worker safety, beginning with the 1995 Murrah Bombing, continuing at the World Trade Center, and later in New Orleans after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She was also a key member of recovery teams following Oklahoma's tornadoes.
Her extensive experience as a safety professional and investigator influences her writing, with safety themes often woven into her stories. "Everything is safe enough, until it isn't," she says.
In 2024, Betsey retired and relocated to Arkansas, where she is now a full-time author and co-host of the Unfreakingbelievable Podcast.
